Radio Times Tv listings, history and analysis - Grace

TV Listings

We have been asked to create a double page spread for a Tv listing magazine such as radio times in order to advertise our documentary "Social Media Frenzy!" Therefore we must aim our article at the same audience as our documentary which are females and males aged  16-25 year olds

In order to create a successful double page spread we first must:
carry out research into diffferent types of tv listings
Research different types of double page spreads
Analyse different listings
Research different conventions of double page spreads

Script for Radio Advert - Shenay

We created a simple yet effective script for our radio advert, we followed the typical convention of having who is saying what on the left hand side and having the narration on the right hand side. We did this to make it clearer to us what was being said, this made recording more effective as we were able to record it quickly as we knew what we had to do and say.

Radio Trails Analysis

Trail for
(station/channel)
Who are we? (bbc radio)

Target audience
Teenagers aged between 16-21, who are self conscious and take pride in their appearance. But also people who are influenced by society's and the media perception of beauty.
Tone of voice?
the tone of voice is stern but assertive, due to the seriousness of the topic it implies that what is being said is important and encourages the audience to question what they think about the topic.
Sound effects?
(SFX)
From what i can understand the trailer does not include any noticeable sound effects, however a use of sound effects such as a click of a camera may have been effective.
Wildtrack/ambient  sound?
Throughout the clip there is techno/heavy beat sound. this connotes the fast pace life style of the target audience. But also reflects what they listen to, thus appealing to them. it gives a dramatic edge to the content of the trailer.
Use of music?
use of fast beat/past techno music
How many tracks?
there is only one noticeable track. to make t more interesting the use of several tracks would make it more interesting
Sound levels?
the sound levels appear good, the voice over is loud enough to stand out over the track
Length?
it is approximately 35 seconds, this is the average for a radio trailer.
Other notes/common elements/conventions
overall the trailer is successful in advertising the documentary. all components are relevant to the topic and are appropriate to the target audience.

Radio Advert

We have also been asked to create a radio trailer advert, to advertise our documentary, we must make sure that we stick to the conventions of a radio advert and make it appealing to our target audience. We must also choose a suitable radio station to air it on, which will link to the documentary channel as this will also link our target audience. The radio advert must be enticing and make the audiences interested enough to watch the documentary.

We Must:
Analyse radio adverts in order to get an idea into what they include
Research the codes and conventions of radio trailers
Choose a radio station and research their history
Create a script
choose a suitable place to record our trailer
